Award Opportunities

The award programs at the ABRF 2013 meeting are designed to recognize outstanding scientists and students associated with biomolecular core facilities and biotechnology research laboratories:

ABRF Annual Award for Outstanding Contributions to Biomolecular Technologies is the premier award given by the ABRF. Since 1994 it has recognized those pioneers responsible for developing powerful new tools that serve as the foundation of the modern biological research enterprise.

ABRF Robert A. Welch Outstanding Research Group / Committee Member of the Year Awards recognize the significant contributions of members of the ABRF Research Groups and Committees.

The Journal of Biomolecular Techniques (JBT) Outstanding Manuscript Award recognizes the most outstanding research article published in the journal over the last year. For past recipients, click here.
 

The programs listed below give awards that cover travel and/or registration costs for the ABRF 2013 Annual Meeting.

ABRF Outstanding Scientist/Technologist Travel Awards are available to ABRF members who have made outstanding contributions in their institutional core facilities, have developed new biotechnologies with applications in core facilities, and/or have been active in the ABRF. The deadline for applications is December 15, 2012. To apply, click here.

ABRF Poster Awards, sponsored by Waters Corporation, provides cash to defray the cost of travel for the best posters presented at ABRF 2013 in addition to providing an opportunity for the authors to give an oral presentation of their work.

FASEB MARC (Minority Access to Research Careers) Travel Awards Program, offers minority scientists, students and technicians travel awards for participation in the ABRF 2013 Annual Meeting. These awards are administered directly by FASEB MARC.  The application will be live on December 1, 2012 and the application deadline is January 11, 2013.   For travel award information and application forms, visit the MARC website, or contact marcssm@faseb.org.

Satellite Educational Workshop Travel Awards, sponsored by IntegenX, are available to technical scientists working in core laboratories as well as students and postdoctoral fellows, interested in pursuing a career in biotechnology. This award provides a complimentary Satellite Workshop registration (SW1 and SW2 only) as well as $700 to defray travel expenses.

“One Core – One Student”: ABRF 2013 Student Registration Waivers, sponsored by Sigma. ABRF member core and resource facilities can nominate a student/post-doc that has worked through their facility to present a poster at the ABRF annual meeting and receive a free registration waiver. To apply, complete the online application by January 10, 2013.
