Award Opportunities

The award programs at the ABRF 2015 meeting are designed to recognize outstanding scientists and students associated with biomolecular core facilities and biotechnology research laboratories:

ABRF Annual Award for Outstanding Contributions to Biomolecular Technologies is the premier award given by the ABRF. Since 1994 it has recognized those pioneers responsible for developing powerful new tools that serve as the foundation of the modern biological research enterprise.

ABRF Robert A. Welch Outstanding Research Group / Committee Member of the Year Awards recognize the significant contributions of members of the ABRF Research Groups and Committees.

The Journal of Biomolecular Techniques (JBT) Outstanding Manuscript Award recognizes the most outstanding research article published in the journal over the last year. For past recipients, click here.

The programs listed below give awards that cover travel and/or registration costs for the ABRF 2015 Annual Meeting.

ABRF Outstanding Scientist/Technologist Travel Awards Sponsored by  ABRF and SeqGen are available to ABRF members who have made outstanding contributions in their institutional core facilities, have developed new biotechnologies with applications in core facilities, and/or have been active in the ABRF. The deadline for applications is January 9, 2015. To apply click here.

ABRF Poster Awards, sponsored by Waters Corporation: In addition to providing cash to defray the cost of travel for the authors of the best posters presented at ABRF 2015, the Poster Awards grant the authors the opportunity to give an oral presentation of their work during the meeting. For past recipients, click here.

FASEB MARC (Maximizing Access to Research Careers) Travel Awards Program, offers minority scientists, students, and technicians travel awards for participation in the ABRF 2015 Annual Meeting. These awards are administered directly by FASEB MARC.  The application  deadline is February 13, 2015.   For travel award information and application forms, visit the MARC website, or contact marcssm@faseb.org.

CCMA Imaging Award

The Canadian Cytometry and Microscopy Association (CCMA) is proud to sponsor Imaging Awards of $200 (Canadian) to help defray the registration cost of attending the ABRF 2015 pre-conference “Image Processing and Analysis with Open Source FIJI/ImageJ” workshop.  The application deadline is February 15th, 2015. Applicants will be notified shortly thereafter if they received an award. These awards are available to all. To apply applicants should submit a short (500 words maximum) statement as to how this course will assist them in their research project or core facility responsibilities and their full contact information to: ccma.accm@gmail.com . Travel award checks will be presented to the recipients at the Workshop.
